"Antilope tragocamelus Pallas, 1766, was based on accounts of the ""tragelaphus"" by Caius, Gesner and Ray and on Parsons' (1745) description of a male nilgai in London (here designated the lectotype), which had first been ""brought to Bengal, from a very remote part of the Mogul's Dominions""."
