Formerly included in Cercocebus (for example, by McKenna and Bell [1997]); a subgenus of Cercocebus, according to Szalay and Delson (1979), but see Groves (1979, 1989, 2001c). Included in Papio as a subgenus by Goodman et al. (2001).
