Marunatuoksukki Ambrosia artemisiifolia

Description

Common ragweed is an annual herbaceous plant of the Asteraceae family, which somewhat resembles mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris). It is erect and often highly branched. The spicate inflorescences are modest. The plant may vary in height from ten centimetres to one metre. In Finland, the species flowers late, in September-October, and is probably unable to produce seeds that would germinate. In Finland, common ragweed is an alien species that usually travels in birdseed mixes and is occasionally found as far north as Oulu. In addition to bird feeding stations, it can be found in wasteland and landfills.
