Description
Easily identified by its two large opposite stem leaves.
Growing form
Erect, perennial herb.
Size
20–60 cm high.
Stem
The stem is stout. The rhizome is horizontal.
Leaf
There are two opposite leaves on the stem. The leaves are 5–20 cm long, shorter than the stem and the lamina is elliptic.
Flower
The inflorescence is a narrow, elliptic, 7–25 cm spike with numerous flowers (even 80 flowers). The flowers are small, inconspicuous, greenish or brownish. The labellum is long 10–15 mm, deflexed, obtusely bilobate at the apex and spurless. The other tepals are about 5 mm. The flowers are mildly sweet-fragrant.
Fruit and seed
The capsule is about 12 mm long, erect and broadly ovoid. The seeds are extremely small.
