Size
10–80 cm long.
Stem
The stem is filamentous, procumbent, and creeping on the ground.
Leaf
The leaves are over-wintering and arranged spirally along the stem. The lamina (6–15 mm x 3–6 mm) is simple, elliptic or ovate, acute, green and lustrous on the adaxial side, nearly white on the abaxial side, and the margin is revolute.
Flower
The flowers are bisexual, and arranged in pairs or clusters of many at the summits of branches. The pedicel is pubescent. The corolla (5–7 mm) is four-lobed, rotate and red. The corolla lobes are long and retrorse.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is a spherical, dark red berry (10–15 mm in diameter).
