Welcome to the public testing environment of the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility - FinBIF!

FinBIF is a national data center for biodiversity information. It is set up by the Finnish Museum of Natural History (LUOMUS) through a three-year project in 2015 - 2017. The project is a component of a larger aggregate project Envibase administrated by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

FinBIF is a national service supporting species-related research, management, teaching, and life-long learning. It collects, archives, and distributes Finnish electronic datasets on biodiversity and provides visualisation and analysis tools in one single portal.

FinBIF promotes open science and effective use of data by society at large, as well as data quality control, descriptions, and accumulation.

The test site already provides ample information but it is constantly updated and improved. New information will be added as the project progresses. This is only a preliminary version of the portal and its functionality, performance and structure will be developed and elaborated during the project. We welcome all constructive feedback and suggestions that you could share with us. Please see contact details at the bottom of the page. Thank you!
